We are pleased to invite ASEC partners to an exclusive discussion with key Hill staff from the Senate Finance and HELP Committees as well as House Ways & Means and Education & the Workforce Committees. The purpose of this convening is to facilitate an exchange of ideas to inform future retirement security legislation. The roundtable will provide a platform for Hill staff to share the initiatives they’re currently working on and areas where they are seeking further policy solutions. ASEC partners will have the opportunity to provide feedback for consideration and follow-up as warranted.

2024 SHED Report Briefing for Partners

Since 2013, the Federal Reserve Board has conducted the Survey of Household Economics and Decisionmaking (SHED), which measures the economic well-being of U.S. households and identifies potential risks to their finances. The survey includes modules on a range of topics of current relevance to financial stability, including credit access and behaviors, savings, retirement, economic fragility, and education and student loans.

The Outlook for Social Security and Medicare

The Trustees of Social Security and Medicare released updated projections for the programs’ finances. They currently expect Social Security’s primary trust fund, the Old-Age and Survivors Insurance Trust Fund, to deplete its reserves in 2033, and Medicare’s Hospital Insurance trust fund to do so by 2036.
